The Ottawa Hospital is the 2nd largest hospital in Canada with over 10,000 employees and an annual budget of over 200 million dollars. 76design was approached by the Ottawa Hospital to design & produce their 2008 – 2009 Annual Report. 76design saw an opportunity to expand our vision and to develop an annual report that would contribute so much more to a large target demographic. We proposed a more environmentally friendly and cost effective solution to the typical printed publication.
For the Ottawa Hospital, moving to an online interactive publication was not only a smart business, communications and environmental decision; it has proven to deliver far more compelling information to far more readers at a much lower cost than a traditional printed annual report and has done so with minimal environmental impact. This annual report is widely accessible to an extensive range of users via the Internet.
76design worked closely with the senior staff at TOH to conceive, plan and design all elements of this paperless annual report. This includes:
- Conceiving all aspects of the site architecture, including complex dynamic data visualizations as part of an overall thematic narrative, multimedia integration and personalization features.
- Planning and producing multimedia success stories including all video production, photography and writing
- Developing key messages and applying a comprehensive messaging strategy to all narrative, elements, design elements and interactive features
- Developing and implementing a unique data visualization strategy to display complex metrics and performance indicators in intuitive, attractive and innovative ways
